Digital ID Card ends access on deactivation

Imagine someone left your organisation last month. Their account in Connect Frontline was deactivated on their last day and access to your connected apps was removed. Today, they return to their old workplace and show an ID card that says they still work for you.

If it's a physical card, it only stops working if someone collects it or deactivates it in a separate system. If it relies on a static employee number, the number still exists. And if they show a screenshot, there's no reliable way to tell it from the real thing.

With Digital ID Card, they have nothing valid to show. The card stopped working when their account was deactivated in Connect Frontline.

Digital ID Card only works while someone is employed

Last week we introduced Digital ID Cards to Connect Frontline, a mobile ID card employees open with a single tap from the employee app. It can be used wherever someone needs to check that a person currently works for you.

The card's details are pulled live from ConnectID each time it opens. When the account is deactivated in Connect Frontline, the card stops working, so there's no separate list of leavers to maintain.

What's new

  • The card shows the employee's name, location, brand and membership number.
  • Those details are pulled live from Connect Frontline each time the card opens.
  • The card ends automatically when the account is deactivated.
  • A live visual indicator lets staff tell a real card from a screenshot at a glance.
  • Nothing can be downloaded or saved, so nothing survives after employment ends.

How staff check a card

For a current employee, it works like this:

1. The employee opens Digital ID Card from the employee app and shows it to the person checking.

2. They check the live visual indicator to confirm it's the real card, not a screenshot or a copy.

3. The card shows the employee's name, location, brand and membership number, as they stand in Connect Frontline at that moment.

When that employee leaves, deactivating their account in Connect Frontline ends their card. There's no separate list to update and no physical card to collect.
